UQ’s Destination Australia scholarships – your ticket to international travel and study

Studying abroad is an incredible opportunity, but it can be expensive. Fortunately, the Australian Government’s Destination Australia scholarship program may help reduce the financial burden.
These generous scholarships are valued at A$15,000 per year (for up to 4 years) and are available to students starting an eligible program at The University of Queensland’s (UQ) Gatton campus.
Harsh Kirpal Pahuja is completing a Master of Animal Science at UQ and received a Destination Australia scholarship.
“My brother is actually funding my study, so receiving the Destination Australia scholarship has reduced the financial burden on him tremendously,” he said.
“It’s a huge scholarship, which has meant I’ve been able to focus more on my studies and try to do well academically.”

Students at UQ’s Gatton campus have access to a range of specialist agricultural and animal facilities, including the UQ VETS Small Animal Hospital, Production Animal Service facilities and Equine Specialist Hospital. These are in addition to over 1000 hectares of farmland, greenhouses, post-harvest facilities and research laboratories.
Harsh says he has enjoyed the incredible social and cultural experiences he’s had living in Australia and studying at UQ.
“All of the staff at UQ are really good too, they’re really responsive,” Harsh said.
