Joint degree/ dual degree/ cotutelle programs for PhD candidates

Through our partnership agreements you can complete a joint PhD program between UQ and an overseas institution. This may also be called a dual degree or cotutelle program.

A joint degree allows for global research collaboration and gives you a research degree from two institutions.

Joint degree opportunities

We offer joint degrees with:

  • QUEX: a joint PhD program between us and the University of Exeter that supports your research into global sustainability and wellbeing.
  • UQIDAR: a joint PhD program between us and the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IITD), an Institute of Eminence, to help your research make a global impact.

How to apply

To apply for a joint PhD with one of our partners, inform your advisor and enrolling school/institute during the application process.

To establish a joint degree program at UQ you must be a UQ staff member and follow the UQ International Agreements policy and procedures.
