Across Australia and worldwide, First Nations communities, individuals and organisations are working to reclaim and revitalise their languages. This course will help you identify the resources and support for language revitalisation in your context.

Who should attend

Participants involved in language revitalisation, including teaching and learning, archiving and archival research, documentation, or arts-based practice in their heritage Indigenous language.

Entry requirements

Involvement in own Indigenous language work or community work that incorporates Indigenous languages.

What you'll learn

  • Develop skills for mapping the resources in your language revitalisation network.
  • Understand where language materials may be held in institutions and collections.
  • Identify local and national opportunities, communities, and events for nourishing languages. 
     

Time commitment

This is a hybrid course that will require roughly 12 hours to complete.

  • 2 hours of online teaching
  • 10 hours over a 3 day on-campus intensive (30 January to 1 February 2023).

Assessment

You'll need to complete a network plan and a video reflection.
