Undergraduate study

Kickstart your future career and own the unknown with an undergraduate degree.

Own the unknown

An undergraduate degree prepares you for your dream career. It’s often your entry point to university education, where you begin building your skills and knowledge, and shaping your future.

An undergraduate degree at UQ is where you become part of something bigger than yourself. It’s where you join a community, make friends, find your voice and learn how you can create change.

UQ undergraduate programs

Bachelor's degree

A bachelor’s degree is often the first university qualification you will undertake in higher education. It typically takes 3 to 5 years to complete (full time) and will provide you with the knowledge and skills to work in a specialist area.

Double degree

Get 2 qualifications in less time and achieve greater flexibility in your career options with a double degree (also known as a dual degree). You’ll be studying 2 bachelor’s degrees without increasing your workload, typically over the course of only 4 years.

Honours

Gain research experience and prepare for postgraduate study with an honours degree. Choosing a bachelor’s degree with an embedded honours year or undertaking honours after completing your undergraduate degree will give you a competitive edge among other graduates.

Diplomas

Study a Diploma in Languages alongside your bachelor’s degree, or undertake a Diploma in Science or Diploma in Arts after completing your degree. These undergraduate diplomas can broaden your knowledge and increase your employability.

Eligibility

There are many pathways to an undergraduate degree.

Do I need an ATAR to apply for undergraduate study?

Whether you completed high school months or years ago, or not at all, there’s a pathway to university for you. While an ATAR may be the most common way to access undergraduate studies, it isn’t by any means the only way.

Do undergraduate degrees have entry requirements?

All our undergraduate programs have subject prerequisites. These are specific subjects you must have studied to be eligible for an offer. Prerequisites ensure you have an appropriate level of subject area knowledge when you start your program.

What if I don't meet the entry requirements?

To be offered a place in an undergraduate program, you need to have successfully completed Queensland Year 12, or a qualification equivalent to Queensland Year 12, with the required minimum entry score for the program you're interested in studying. If you don't meet the requirements, pathway options are available.
