Doctor of Medicine (MD) provisional entry

If you’re finishing high school, you can apply for the Doctor of Medicine through the provisional entry pathway.

Provisional entry pathways

Depending on your circumstances and where you want to study, there are different provisional entry pathways you can take into the UQ MD.

Greater Brisbane provisional entry

Applying to UQ will put you into the Greater Brisbane provisional entry pathway. This means you'll complete your first degree at UQ, and then be based in the Greater Brisbane area for all 4 years of the MD program.

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander provisional entry

If you’re an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander person you can apply through our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Studies Unit (ATSISU) into a provisional pathway that suits your needs and goals.

Central Queensland and Wide Bay regional medical pathway

Based in Rockhampton and Bundaberg, study your undergraduate pathway to medicine program at CQUniversity (CQUni) and complete your MD at our UQ Rural Clinical School in Central Queensland or Wide Bay.

Darling Downs and South West Qld medical pathway

Based in Toowoomba, study your undergraduate pathway to medicine program at the University of Southern Queensland (UniSQ) and complete your MD at our UQ Rural Clinical School in the Darling Downs – South West region.

Provisional entry pathway

If you're an international student, you'll study your first degree at UQ before you start the Doctor of Medicine (MD) program.
