Undergraduate Law Admission Scheme
If you're from an educationally disadvantaged or culturally diverse background, our Undergraduate Law Admission Scheme may help you gain entry to our law programs.
Who is eligible
Our Undergraduate Law Admission Scheme is open to Australian citizens and humanitarian visa holders.
You must be currently in Year 12 or have done no more than one year of tertiary education.
To be eligible, you'll need to meet one of these criteria:
- come from a low-income family
- be an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person, or
- be the first in your immediate family to attend university.
You'll also need to:
- meet the prerequisites for the Bachelor of Laws (Honours) program, and
- achieve a minimum ATAR or selection rank of 90.00 (before adjustments).
How to apply
Applications open in early August and close in early November each year.
To apply for this scheme, you need to:
- Apply for the Bachelor of Laws (Honours) or a law dual degree through QTAC as a first or second preference.
- Apply for QTAC's Educational Access Scheme.
- Submit an online Admission Scheme application to UQ.
We also encourage you to apply for the UQ Law School Leadership, Excellence and Diversity (LEAD) Scholarship. The scholarship offers:
- $8000 per year for up to 5 years to help with living and study expenses
- a dedicated academic mentor
- a support network through optional non-residential membership of a UQ college in your first year.
International students aren't eligible for the Undergraduate Law Admission Scheme.
If you're studying your senior schooling in Australia, you may be eligible for other admission schemes.
