Submit your application
Ready to start on the path to your future? You'll need to apply through the Queensland Tertiary Admissions Centre (QTAC).
You can apply to start in Semester 1 for all undergraduate programs. Some programs also start in Semester 2. Check the program page for details.
Apply through QTAC
You need to apply online through QTAC for all undergraduate programs.
Important dates
These dates apply to most programs. Some programs have earlier closing dates – see QTAC's fixed closing dates for details. To see all application dates, check QTAC's key dates.
For Semester 1, 2026
- QTAC applications open: 5 August 2025
- QTAC applications close for major offer round: 8 December 2025
- UQ offers released: between 2 October 2025 and 17 February 2026
- QTAC major offer round: 15 January 2026
- Classes start at UQ: 23 February 2026
Ordering your preferences
To give yourself the best chance of getting an offer for your preferred program, think carefully about how you choose and order your preferences.
You can list up to 6 preferences. You can only receive 1 offer per offer round – for your highest eligible preference.
Here's how to order your preferences to make the most of your QTAC application:
- 1 and 2: Dream programs – The top 2 programs you dream of studying – even if you're not sure you'll get the entry score you need.
- 3 and 4: Back-up programs – The 2 programs you'd most like to study if you don't get into your dream programs.
- 5 and 6: Pathway programs – 2 programs you could use as a pathway into one of your preferred programs.
Once you've decided on your 6 programs, you can refine the order by thinking about:
- entry score threshold: list programs with higher entry score thresholds first
- offer round dates: list programs in order of when offers are made.
If you change your mind or don't get the entry score you expected, you can change your preferences.

Offers
We make offers through QTAC. If you're offered a place in a UQ program, QTAC will contact you with details and instructions for responding to the offer.
For Semester 1, 2026 we'll make offers between 2 October 2025 and 17 February 2026.
You may not get an offer at the same time as people you know, but that doesn't necessarily mean you've missed out. Different universities may make offers on different dates, and not all programs are offered in the same offer round. You can check offer round dates on the QTAC site.
Ready to apply? How to submit your application depends on what type of applicant you are.
You can apply to start in Semester 1 for all undergraduate programs. Some programs also start in Semester 2. Check the program page for details.
If you're not currently completing senior schooling from Australia (Year 12 or International Baccalaureate), submit an application directly to UQ.
You can complete the application yourself or apply through an approved UQ agent near you. Applicants from certain countries must apply through an agent – our online application system will let you know if you need to do this.
We recommend applying early. We can consider applications up to 2 years in advance, and some programs have limited places. You must leave enough time for UQ to process your application and issue an offer, and for you to organise your student visa.
Step 1: Create an account
Register to create an account in UQ applications. If you've registered before, you can log in using your existing email address and password.
If you can't access UQ applications, send us an enquiry to request help.
Citizenship
If you hold citizenship of Australia or New Zealand (including as a dual citizen), select Australian or New Zealand citizen as your citizenship status.
Step 2: Start your application
Select 'Start an application'.
Search for the program you want to apply for.
Make sure you select the correct program from the results. You can check the program page to confirm the correct program name and code.
Click 'Apply now'.
Step 3: Complete your application
Complete all details on the application form and include all required documents. You can save an incomplete form and return later if needed.
On your application, let us know if:
- you would like to apply for an English language pathway package
- you want to arrange your Overseas Student Health Cover through UQ.
You will need to provide:
- evidence of your previous study, such as certified copies of complete academic transcripts and/or testamurs for any non-UQ studies
- a copy of your passport or national ID card
- evidence that you meet our English language requirements.
Upload documents as PDFs to reduce their file size.
Personal details
Make sure your name, gender and date of birth match your official government documentation.
(You can also provide a preferred name when you apply. If you're accepted to UQ you’ll be able to add or update your preferred name and gender later.)
Program of study
Select your preferred study option. Check the start date to ensure you select the correct intake semester for when you want to start at UQ.
For some programs, you must select a specific major or field of study. Depending on the program, you may be able to select 'Undeclared' if you're not sure what you want to focus on yet.
Programs will be listed as 'full time' if they offer a full-time study option. To see whether the program also offers part-time study, check the duration on the program page. If it's possible to study part time, you will be able to select this if you are offered a place in the program.
For some programs you must select a specific major or field of study. This is also required if you want to be assessed for credit or exemptions as part of your application.
You can also add up to 2 other preferences to be considered for if you're not accepted into your first preference.
Previous study
Transcripts should list:
- all courses you studied
- any degrees or diplomas you received, and the date they were awarded.
If you have completed your studies and the transcript does not state your degree or diploma and the date it was awarded, you must also provide an award certificate or testamur.
If you have not completed your studies, you can provide a current transcript or other evidence (such as a letter of enrolment) when you apply. You'll need to provide a complete transcript as soon as possible.
You must provide a certified copy of each transcript. Transcripts can be certified by an approved UQ agent or other appropriate parties.
If your previous tertiary studies were in Australia or New Zealand, you may be able to share your transcripts online via My eQuals. Otherwise, upload documents as PDFs to reduce their file size.
Step 4: Submit your application
When you're satisfied your application is complete, submit it.
You'll need to pay a A$150 fee for each application you submit. This fee can't be refunded.
You'll receive an email confirming your application has been submitted. Keep this email – you can reply to it if you have questions about your application.
Closing dates
Make sure you submit your application by the closing date:
- Semester 1: 30 November of the previous year
- Semester 2: 31 May of the same year.
Some programs have different closing dates – these will be listed on the program page.
We may consider late applications, but this can't be guaranteed.
UQ College courses
For all UQ College English courses, including the Bridging English (BE) program, the deadline to apply, accept your offer and pay tuition fees, is 4 weeks before the course start date. UQ College cannot guarantee that places will be available after the deadline. Late applications are assessed on a case-by-case basis.
Step 5: Track or update your application
We will assess your application. We'll contact you if you need to provide any additional information.
After you've submitted your application, you can log in to UQ applications to:
- track the status of your application
- upload documentation
- change your preferences
- withdraw your application
- accept, decline or defer an offer.

How we assess applications
We assess each application on a case-by-case basis. Our International Admissions team will review your qualification to check that it meets the requirements of the program you're interested in.
We also refer to the reputation or ranking of your institution and the Department of Education, Skills and Employment (DESE) Qualifications Recognition Service. This ensures your academic background meets Australian standards as well as the subject or discipline requirements of a UQ program.
All UQ qualifications are aligned to the Australian Qualifications Framework.
Applicant selection
There may be more applicants with the same ATAR or selection rank than there are places available in a program. Where a program has a minimum selection rank for entry, applicants will be chosen by using more detailed measures. These measures might include:
- for entry into Provisional Medicine, the aggregate of the first 3 section scores in the University Clinical Aptitude Test (UCAT). Applicants with the same aggregate score are ranked by their UCAT ANZ section 4 score. If this score is also the same, the UCAT ANZ section 1 score is used
- for entry into the Bachelor of Dental Science (Honours), using the aggregate score from all 4 sections of the University Clinical Aptitude Test (UCAT) as the first selection. Applicants with the same aggregate score are ranked by their UCAT ANZ section 4 score. If this score is also the same, the UCAT ANZ section 1 score is used
- for selection ranks based on tertiary study, further breakdown of an applicant's GPA
- applicants without adjustments will be considered before applicants with adjustments.
