Get ready for UQ

We can't wait to meet you! Here's what you need to do to get ready to study at UQ.

Applying for a visa

You need a valid visa to study in Australia. Make sure you apply for your visa as soon as you receive your Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE) from UQ.

Goin’ is a student-only platform that provides a safe, welcoming space to help you settle in to uni life before you arrive.

By accepting our invitation to join Goin', you can:

  • chat with people studying your degree, meet classmates and make friends
  • find others living nearby, connect with people who share your interests and get tips on UQ and Brisbane life
  • get a feel for your new community, increase your confidence and worry less about starting your uni journey.

You’ll receive your invitation to join Goin’ shortly after you receive your offer.

We'll let you know when your student account is ready in the weeks leading up to the semester. You can then begin working through our Starting at UQ website.

Starting at UQ will take you through everything you need to do to become a UQ student, including:

  • enrolling in courses
  • creating your timetable
  • attending orientation.
