Respond to your offer

If you're interested in opportunities to study overseas as a UQ student, learn more about global experiences.

If you've received an offer to study at UQ, congratulations! Complete the steps below to accept your offer.

Check your details are correct

Ensure your name and date of birth are correct in your offer letter and exactly match your passport. Any errors may cause problems when you apply for your student visa.

Review your course approval report

If some of your courses have not been approved, or you want to make changes to your course selections, email studyabroad@uq.edu.au.

If some courses are still pending approval, we'll send you an updated course report once the status of all your courses has been finalised.

You do not need to wait until your courses have been finalised before you accept your offer.

Accept your offer

Log in to UQ applications and accept your offer.

Pay your fees (if applicable)

If you are paying your fees directly to UQ and not to your home university, your offer will include details of your tuition fees and/or Overseas Student Health Cover insurance (OSHC).

  1. Select 'Xetta' to pay by credit card or bank transfer.
  2. Choose whether you want to pay using:
    • credit card (Visa or Mastercard), or
    • online transfer through Flywire. Flywire lets you securely pay your deposit from almost any country or bank in your home currency.

If your home university or study abroad provider is paying your OSHC or tuition fees on your behalf, we will liaise with them directly.

What happens next

We'll process your payment (if applicable). If everything is okay, we'll issue your Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE) and notify you. Once your CoE has been issued, you'll be able to view it in UQ applications.

A CoE is an official document that confirms you have a place in a UQ program. You need a CoE to apply for a student visa.

If you need to, you can request to defer or withdraw from your studies.

Deferring your studies

To defer your studies means to delay the start of your program to a future semester.

Exchange students: before you request deferral, you must check with your home university.

If you want to defer, you can request to change your start date when you respond to your offer in UQ applications.

If you’ve already accepted your offer, send a deferral request to your unique application email address. You can do this by replying to the confirmation email you received when you submitted your application. If you don't have that email, see how to contact us about your application. In your request, include:

  • the reason you want to defer
  • your preferred semester to start at UQ.

Withdrawing from studies

Dropping out of a program is called withdrawing.

Before you withdraw, you must:

  • email studyabroad@uq.edu.au
  • seek advice from your study abroad or exchange office at your home university.

Academic or financial penalties may also apply.
