  • a citizen of Australia or New Zealand,
  • an Australian permanent resident, or
  • a holder of an Australian permanent humanitarian visa.

  • intending to study on a student visa,
  • not a citizen of Australia or New Zealand,
  • not an Australian permanent resident, or
  • a temporary resident (visa status) of Australia.

Subject Incentive Scheme

If you've passed certain subjects or completed university study while at school, you may receive adjustments to boost your selection rank.

Who is eligible

You can apply for our Subject Incentive Scheme if you're:

  • currently completing Year 12 in Australia (including International Baccalaureate students), or
  • an Australian citizen currently completing an approved overseas senior matriculation program (assessed as equivalent to Queensland senior studies).

You can only receive Subject Incentive Scheme adjustments in the year immediately after you complete Year 12.

How it works

The number of adjustments you're eligible for will depend on the courses you've completed. You can get:

  • 2 adjustments for achieving a grade of C or higher in Units 3 and 4 of an approved language other than English subject (or an equivalent subject from another approved senior program)
  • 2 adjustments for achieving a grade of C or higher in Units 3 and 4 of Queensland Specialist Mathematics (or equivalent)
  • 1 adjustment for completing a university-level enrichment course (e.g. our Enhanced Studies Program) while studying your senior program.

You can get a maximum of 3 adjustments through this scheme. You may still be eligible for other schemes, including the School Opportunity Scheme and Rural Access Scheme for a combined maximum of 5 total adjustments.

How to apply

For most students applying through QTAC, you'll get the adjustments automatically.

Exceptions

  • Adjustments for university-level enrichment studies – you must provide details and submit transcripts to QTAC.
  • If you’re an Australian citizen completing Year 12 overseas – you may need to provide curriculum details for your language and/or maths subjects.
  • Adjustments for university-level enrichment studies – you must provide details and submit transcripts to QTAC as required.
