School Opportunity Scheme

We’re striving towards equitable access to education and breaking down barriers facing students aspiring to study at UQ.

The School Opportunity Scheme can boost your selection rank by 2 or 4 adjustments based on your school’s Index of Community Socio-Educational Advantage (ICSEA) value. The adjustment aims to enhance the educational opportunities for all students.

Who is eligible

If you're currently in year 12 your selection rank will be automatically adjusted based on your school’s ICSEA school value.

If your school has a value of:

  • 950 to 1000 you’ll receive 2 adjustments
  • less than 950 you’ll receive 4 adjustments.

Find your school's ICSEA value

  1. Go to the MySchool website
  2. Type in the name of your school or suburb, and click 'Search'
  3. Find your school in the results list, and click 'View School Profile'
  4. View the School ICSEA value in your school’s profile. For 2025 entry, view your school's profile for 2023.

How to apply

The adjustment is automatic; this means we’ll automatically boost your selection rank depending on the school details included in your QTAC application.

You may also be eligible for the Rural Access Scheme and UQ Link Program.

International students aren't eligible for the School Opportunity Scheme.

If you're studying your senior schooling in Australia, you may be eligible for other admission schemes.
