Getting to Open Day

Traffic to campus increases significantly on Open Day. We encourage you to take public transport and allow for extra travel time.

There are 2 bus stops on campus: 

If you have the option, arrive to UQ Lakes bus stop instead of Chancellor's Place as it's less likely to be congested.

The nearest train stations to the St Lucia campus are the:

If you take a train, you'll need to take a bus to complete your journey, as there isn’t a train station in St Lucia.

Arrive by car

The main roads into St Lucia campus are Sir Fred Schonell Drive and Sir William McGregor Drive.

You can't access parking from Chancellor's place.

Allow for a longer journey due to heavier-than-normal traffic.

Parking at St Lucia

Parking on campus is free but in demand on Open Day.

You can park in any parking space for free including in:

  • permit-only zones 
  • multi-story car parks.

Accessible parking

Parking spaces for Persons With Disability (PWD) are reserved for people with an Australian or red disability parking permit.

Drop off from Dutton Park

If you're coming from the south side of the river, consider getting dropped off at Dutton Park Place bus station.

You can easily walk or get a bus across the Eleanor Schonell Bridge to St Lucia campus. 

Free shuttle from Long Pocket 

You can park at UQ's Long Pocket campus and take a free shuttle bus to the St Lucia campus for Open Day. 

It is approximately a 10-minute journey and the bus travels non-stop between Long Pocket and our St Lucia campus.

Shuttle departure times

At Long Pocket, the shuttle bus stop is next to Merlo's cafe (near the Cycad Building).

From Long Pocket

Buses depart at quarter-to and quarter-past each hour.

  • first bus of the day departs at 8:45am 
  • last bus at 2:45pm.

From St Lucia campus

Buses depart on each hour and half hour.

  • first bus of the day departs at 9am
  • last bus at 3pm.

Parking at Long Pocket

Drive through Gate 4 (from Meiers Road, Indooroopilly) to access parking along Discovery Drive and park in any available parking space, including permit-only zones.
