Overview
Learn advanced clinical anatomy, including all aspects of regional and systemic anatomy, in this bespoke course for medical and allied health clinicians.
The course provides topographical training in anatomy with online modules, tutorials and practical sessions on wet-prosected specimens.
Based on the Anatomy requirements of the Generic Surgical Sciences Examination of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons, this course is relevant to trainee clinicians from surgical, radiologic and medical disciplines and allied health professionals.
This course has been designed to improve knowledge of clinically relevant anatomy, thus enhancing acceptance for vocational training and upgrading clinical performance.
After completing the course, you'll be able to demonstrate knowledge of the surgical relevance of the structures covered and the right surgical and procedural approaches to each organ or anatomical structure. You'll also be able to demonstrate skills in interpreting radiologic images.
Who should attend
Prospective surgical, radiology and pathology trainees and non-medical allied health professionals.
Entry requirements
You must hold an MBBS, MD or equivalent, or an approved degree in the non-medical allied health field (e.g. physiotherapy, radiography).
Before starting the course, and for the duration of the course, you must comply with professional registration requirements for medicine, physiotherapy or radiography.
What you'll learn
The course will teach clinical anatomy addressing all aspects of regional and systemic anatomy. Upon successfully completing the course, you will be able to:
- identify marked structures, their anatomical relations in prosected specimens, and their clinical importance.
- correlate anatomical structures in wet-prosected specimens with radiological images.
- understand the surgical and procedural approaches to each organ or structure.
Time commitment
This is a hybrid course that will require roughly 136 hours to complete.
- 28 hours of online classes
- 56 hours of study outside of class
- 14 hours of synchronous discussion
- 4 weekend face-to-face clinician-focused practical intensives
- Over 6 months

Assessment
Each online module includes a formative theory assessment.
Certification and accreditation
The course is an accredited postgraduate offering worth two credits. A Digital Badge will be awarded to successful candidates.
