International Admiralty and Maritime Law (Continuing Professional Development)

Delivered by School of Law

Overview

Examine the international regulation of ships and the enforcement of admiralty actions and learn about the main principles of law that apply to maritime claims and liabilities.

This course is a blend of general principles of contract and tort law, specialised maritime laws arising out of the ancient law merchant, international conventions, customary international law and domestic (both Commonwealth and State) law.

Over 90% of Australian trade is transported by sea and the law governing the ships that facilitate this trade is of great commercial importance.

Given the international nature of shipping and the legal structure underpinning it, this course will equip you with skills that are ready transferable between jurisdictions.

This course is part of the UQ Law School Continuing Professional Development Program
