Doctor of Medicine pathways for high school leavers

If you're finishing high school, there are different pathways into the Doctor of Medicine.

To study the Doctor of Medicine (MD) at UQ, you first need to complete an undergraduate (bachelor's) degree.

Choosing your first degree

If you're certain you want to be a doctor, you can study the Bachelor of Medical Science / Doctor of Medicine vertical dual program. You'll enrol in undergraduate study for 2 years, before progressing directly into the MD program for 4 years of postgraduate study. The vertical dual allows you to complete the MD program at least a year earlier than other pathways.

If you want the flexibility to choose your first degree, you can apply for the provisional entry pathway, which allows you to nominate your first degree. After successfully completing your undergraduate degree, you'll then move into the MD program for 4 years of postgraduate study.
