Doctor of Medicine (MD) direct entry
If you're finishing Year 12 and certain you want to be a doctor, you can apply for the Bachelor of Medical Science / Doctor of Medicine vertical dual, which allows you to complete your degree at least a year earlier than traditional medical pathways.
About the Bachelor of Medical Science / Doctor of Medicine
The Bachelor of Medical Science / Doctor of Medicine allows you to apply for the one program – where you'll undertake undergraduate study for 2 years, then progress directly into the MD for 4 years in Greater Brisbane.
You'll be awarded the Bachelor of Medical Science and the Doctor of Medicine when you complete the vertical dual.

Entry requirements
To meet the minimum entry requirements for the Bachelor of Medical Science / Doctor of Medicine, you'll need:
- an adjusted ATAR 95 (or equivalent (PDF, 102.76 KB))
- Queensland Year 12 (or equivalent) General English subject (Units 3 & 4, C) and Mathematical Methods (Units 3 & 4, C)
- a competitive University Clinical Aptitude Test for Australia and New Zealand (UCAT ANZ) aggregate score from the year you apply, and
- to attend a multiple mini-interview (MMI) in the year that you apply.
We recommend Year 12 Chemistry and/or Biology but these are not required for entry.
Meeting the minimum entry requirements doesn't guarantee admission.
English language requirements
You'll also be required to meet the English language requirements listed on the Bachelor of Medicine / Doctor of Medicine program page.
Make sure you're assessed on your highest possible entry score by applying for any admission schemes you're eligible for.

There are approximately approximately 20 places available for domestic students entering the MD through the Bachelor of Medical Science / Doctor of Medicine each year.

What happens next
Once your application has been assessed to see if you meet the minimum entry requirements, you'll receive correspondence via your QTAC account to let you know if you’ve been invited for a multiple mini-interview (MMI).

Applicants are selected for interviews based on their UCAT ANZ aggregate score. UQ does not consider annotations from the UCAT ANZ test in admissions decisions.
A minimum of 50% of domestic applicants invited to the MMI will be Queensland Year 12 students.
Interview and invitation dates
QTAC will email notifications of interview invites. This may be in the form of a notification to check your application.
Interviews will be scheduled for mid-late November 2026.

It's your responsibility to provide the correct email address and check all inboxes (including junk and spam folders).
If you experience any issues with your booking, you must contact the Medical School at med.admissionsenquiries@uq.edu.au during the booking window for assistance.
We won't consider requests to accept late bookings for interviews unless there are exceptional circumstances. Interview times are subject to availability.
A lack of knowledge about the booking procedure, the associated timelines or not checking your junk mail folder are not considered to be circumstances beyond your control and would not meet the criteria for a late application to be considered.
Selection for offers
Following interviews, you'll be ranked for offer alongside the other applicants.
