InspireU Extend
InspireU Extend is a 5-day residential camp for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander high school students who want to dive deep into a specific study area.
If you’re in Years 10 to 12 and preparing for ATAR or considering ATAR-specific career pathways, this is your chance to participate in a wide range of activities tailored to your chosen discipline.
What you can expect at the InspireU Extend camp:
- stay for a full 5 days (4 nights) near UQ’s amazing St Lucia campus
- experience academic enrichment and career exploration within your chosen study area
- attend tailored workshops, lab visits, and industry engagement sessions
- receive expert advice and guidance on ATAR, QTAC, and subject selection
- make long-lasting friendships and explore career options alongside peers with similar interests.
Choose your study area of interest
You will be placed in one of the InspireU Extend faculty programs, where you will experience academic enrichment and career exploration related to your chosen study area(s):
- Agriculture and animal sciences
- Architecture, design and urban planning
- Arts, humanities and social sciences
- Business and economics
- Communication, media and experience design
- Computer science and IT
- Education
- Engineering
- Environment
- Health and medicine
- Law
- Science and mathematics

- Residential camp: Monday 29 June – Friday 3 July 2026
- Applications open: Monday 16 March 2026
- Applications close: Sunday 17 May 2026
- Outcome email sent to applicants: Wednesday 27 May 2026
Cost
UQ offers InspireU at no cost to students.
The camp is fully inclusive of travel, meals and accommodation to ensure finances are never a barrier to participation.
Transport
We encourage Indigenous students from all over Queensland to attend, and we will organise transportation, including flights and shuttles to and from the airport for attendees.

How to apply

Step 1: Check your eligibility
You're eligible if you're:
- Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander
- Interested in studying at a university after high school
- currently in Years 10 to 12 (and will be in June 2026)
- available for the full 5-day camp.
Step 2: Prepare your application
When you submit the online application, you'll need to include:
- your own and your parent or guardian’s contact details
- a letter of support from your referee
- a copy of your latest school report
- total number of unexplained absences during the past term
- your chosen study area of interest (selected from those listed above)
- written responses to a series of short questions about why you'd like to attend InspireU Extend and your study interests.
The letter of support can be written by a teacher or the head of your year. It should outline:
- why they believe you’d benefit from attending the InspireU camp
- a brief description of your school attendance history from the past year
- any other details that might help us get to know you and your interests better.
Please speak to your parent or guardian before completing the application, as they will be sent a consent form if you are successful (we cannot secure your place without this).
Step 3: Submit your application
Gather your supporting documents and complete the online form. The form should take you about 10 minutes.
Applications close at 11:59pm on Sunday 17 May 2026. You can edit your application until then.
Next steps
You’ll receive an email to confirm we have received your application.
We will review your application and email you with the outcome on Wednesday 27 May 2026.
