Project description
Are you passionate about shaping the future of global communication? Join our team for an exciting project focused on designing advanced antenna subsystems and smart surfaces for integrated 6G and satellite communications. The project aims to enhance beamforming, coverage, and aperture efficiency for seamless global connectivity. You will work with CST or HFSS for simulations, along with MATLAB for analysis.
For this scholarship, you will also gain hands-on experience with experimental setups and measurement techniques for antenna and smart surfaces performance characterization.
We are looking for a motivated PhD candidate with a background in electromagnetics, antenna design, and feeding networks. If you're keen to contribute to cutting-edge research in 6G and satellite communication, we encourage you to apply!
Research environment
As part of the Electromagnetic Innovations (EMAGIN) team at UQ, led by Professor Amin Abbosh, you will be embedded in a world-class research environment focused on the next generation of communication systems. Our group is at the forefront of developing cutting-edge advanced antenna arrays and smart surfaces for 6G and satellite communications. You will have access to UQ’s Microwave Lab, which is equipped with state-of-the-art instruments, including multi-port vector network analyzers, and anechoic chamber. For computational tasks, UQ’s High-Performance Computing clusters (Bunya and Wiener) will provide the necessary resources for large-scale simulations and analysis.
This environment will give you the tools and support needed to advance your research and contribute to groundbreaking work in electromagnetic communication technologies.
