Project description
This research is embedded within the Australian Centre for Melanoma Imaging and Diagnosis (ACEMID) a collaboration of >100 researchers, postdocs, clinicians and students from The University of Queensland (UQ), University of Sydney and Monash University.
You will work with the team to develop and test interventions to change melanoma screening from the current opportunistic skin checks to a nationwide, risk-adjusted targeted organised program. This PhD research will explore how new 3D imaging technology and AI-driven clinician support can enhance the screening process, making it more accurate, efficient, and accessible for participants.
This PhD research will look into the factors that affect how people accept and participate in screening programs. The study will explore social, cultural, psychological, and practical aspects that play a role, aiming to offer useful recommendations to improve the success and reach of screening programs. We aim to implement primary prevention as a core component of the screening program.
The PhD can be in the fields of public health, behavioural science, implementation science, epidemiology, or biostatistics.
