Project description
PhD Scholarships are available within the Centre for Organic Photonics & Electronics to develop novel semiconducting materials and/or additives for use in organic and/or hybrid thin film solar cells. The successful applicant(s) will have the opportunity to gain experience in synthetic chemistry and materials science, and work in an interdisciplinary team to realise next generation of solar cells.
Research environment
The Centre for Organic Photonics & Electronics, which is embedded in The University of Queensland’s School of Chemistry and Molecular Biosciences, has state-of-the-art facilities for the synthesis, characterisation and testing of organic semiconducting materials (see https://cope.centre.uq.edu.au for facilities). The successful applicant(s) will join a research program involving an interdisciplinary team that includes theorists, chemists, spectroscopists, and device physicists.

A working knowledge of Chemistry would be of benefit to someone working on this project.
You will demonstrate academic achievement in the field/s of synthetic organic chemistry and the potential for scholastic success.
A background or knowledge of organic optoelectronics, spectroscopy and nanofabrication, while not essential, would be advantageous.
