Project description

We are seeking a full-time, highly motivated PhD candidate to perform high-quality research in the field of mineral processing and chemical engineering. This scholarship is funded by the ARC Centre of Excellence for Enabling Eco-Efficient Beneficiation of Minerals. The candidate will join a multidisciplinary team in partnership with industry partners. This project aims to study the dynamics of froth coarsening to quantify the effect of surfactant, particles and micro-nanobubbles on liquid film and froth drainage behaviours in froth layer using bubble columns, flotation cells, thin-film balances, and advanced diagnostics tools of tensiometry, microelectrophoresis, and sum-frequency-generation vibrational spectroscopy. The knowledge developed from this project will be significant for flotation of coarse composite particles to save energy and water, and increase the plant capacity.
