Simon Anders Axelsen PhD Scholarship at IMB

The Institute for Molecular Bioscience, IMB, is launching a new PhD scholarship funded through distributions from the Simon Anders Axelsen Memorial Fund.  

This philanthropic scholarship will be awarded within three areas of research focus as follows:
• Cancers including rhabdomyosarcoma; 
• Alzheimers and dementia
• Research that will assist those suffering with pain, allowing them to end their lives pain free.

The IMB will perform an internal review and nominate one top candidate for scholarship consideration.

You will work within a world-class research environment with access to state-of-the-art facilities and collaborative networks across biomedical, clinical and translational science disciplines.

Scholarship

This project is supported by the Research project scholarship.

This scholarship includes:

  • living stipend of $39,220 per annum tax free (2026 rate), indexed annually
  • tuition fees covered.

This scholarship includes:

  • tuition fees covered
  • single Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC).

Preferred educational background

Your application will be assessed on a competitive basis.

We take into account your:

  • previous academic record
  • publication record
  • honours and awards
  • employment history.

A background or knowledge of biomedical science, pharmacology, biochemistry, molecular biology, or related disciplines is highly desirable.
