Master of International Commercial Law
Overview
Pursue assorted career opportunities in international business and global trade by equipping yourself with knowledge and understanding about international sales, contract and trade law and international commercial dispute resolution.
The Master of International Commercial Law is designed for students with a commercial background wanting to focus their studies on specific areas of law relevant to international business and commercial operations.
You'll undertake courses introducing private law and public law, along with a range of commercially related law courses carefully created and selected to be relevant to non-lawyers yet still of interest and benefit to lawyers, including:
- Business and Corporate Law
- Business Taxation
- Corporate Governance Law and Practice
- International Commercial Dispute Resolution
- International Trade Law and Technology

Plus you'll undertake a supervised research project or dissertations.

Entry requirements
Entry requirements
To be eligible for entry, you'll need:
- a bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline, or
- a bachelor's degree in any discipline, plus 3 years of full-time equivalent relevant work experience, or
- an equivalent academic or professional qualification and be able to demonstrate to the satisfaction of the Executive Dean that you have requisite knowledge to complete the program.
You must have a grade point average (GPA) of 4.5 on a 7-point scale in your previous qualification.

Relevant disciplines for previous qualifications
Relevant disciplines include law, accounting, advertising (business degree related only), business, business administration, business information systems, commercialisation (business degree related only), economics, finance, international business, international economics and trade, entrepreneurship, human resources, management, marketing, strategy, sustainability (business degree related only) or international hotel and tourism management (UQ and Griffith University BITHM degrees permitted, others considered on a case by case basis).
Relevant work experience
Relevant work experience includes work in law, accounting, advertising, business, business administration, business information systems, commercialisation, economics, finance, international business, international economics and trade, entrepreneurship, human resources, management, marketing, strategy, sustainability or international hotel and tourism management.
English language requirements
IELTS overall 6.5; reading 6; writing 6; speaking 6; listening 6. For other English Language Proficiency Tests and Scores approved for UQ
TOEFL iBT (including Paper Edition) - Overall 87, listening 19, reading 19, writing 21 and speaking 19.
PTE Academic - Overall Score of 64 and 60 in all sub bands.
BE - A minimum overall grade of 4 plus a minimum grade of C in all macro skills.
CES - Overall 176 and 169 in all sub bands.
OET is not accepted.

Student visas
International students who are accepted into full-time study in the Master of International Commercial Law are eligible to apply for an Australian student visa (subclass 500).
There are a number of requirements you must satisfy before a visa is granted, including the Genuine Student (GS) requirement.
