Overview
This course prepares experienced risk management personnel to facilitate effective bowtie workshops within their organisation.
The content includes:
- preparing to conduct the bowtie workshop
- facilitation of the scope for the workshop
- development and critiquing of quality bowtie analyses
- selection and definition of critical controls
- definition of critical control specification and verification
- tricks and traps of facilitation.
This course is co-designed by academic and industry leaders.
Who should attend
Risk management professionals wanting to develop their skills in effective facilitation of bowtie workshops within their organisation.
Entry requirements
At minimum, a knowledge of risk management processes aligned with ISO 31000 and application of risk analysis techniques.

Time commitment
This is an in-person course that will require roughly 38 hours to complete.
- 3-day workshop
- 4 hours of study using online materials
- 10 hours to complete the reflections (optional)
Course curriculum
Assessment
You will have the option to complete 3 reflections during the workshop based on the material covered each day.
Certification and accreditation
Students who successfully complete the course will receive a Certificate of Completion to verify their skills and achievements.
Facilitators
The course catered to varied levels of experience and knowledge. I would recommend people attend if they have a reasonable risk management understanding and some bowtie exposure.
