What GPA do I need to get into the Doctor of Dental Medicine?

If you're looking at how to get into postgraduate dentistry, your grade point average (GPA) is one of the key criteria. To be eligible for entry, you'll need a GPA of 5.0 on a 7-point scale in your previous qualification. Additionally, you’ll need a GAMSAT score, which serves as a secondary differentiator for applicants with the same GPA.

If your bachelor's degree was completed more than 10 years prior to program commencement, you must have completed either a postgraduate qualification or 4 courses of university-level study (in addition to the university-level subject prerequisites listed above) within the last 10 years.

Due to the competitive entry for this course, not all applicants who meet admission requirements may be offered a place. But, on a positive note, there is no interview required in the selection process – selection is based on academic merit only.

What is the GAMSAT?

The Graduate Australian Medical School Admissions Test (GAMSAT) is a graduate medical school admissions test designed to assess capacity to participate in graduate-entry programs in Australia.

For the Doctor of Dental Medicine, your GAMSAT score will be used as a secondary differentiator for applicants with the same GPA. You can contact UQ Admissions (admissions@uq.edu.au) for information regarding the GAMSAT score cut-off for the current year, which can be used as a guide.
