MBA Information Event

Alec is the Founder and Managing Director of Engine Financial Services, a holistic financial planning business. 

For over a decade, he has helped hundreds of professionals and business owners take control of their finances, reduce financial stress and put strategies in place to achieve their life goals so they can spend more time on the things that matter most to them. 

He has completed a Bachelor of Commerce majoring in Finance and Accounting from UQ, an Advanced Diploma in Financial Planning and is currently studying his MBA at UQ.

Mitch is the Pacific Zone Strategy Leader at Schneider Electric, leading strategic growth and transformation across Australia and New Zealand. 

He brings a practical and authentic perspective on leadership, career development and is passionate about helping others leverage education, experience, and curiosity to unlock new opportunities.

Proudly starting his career as a HVAC apprentice, Mitch has spent more than 20 years progressing through technical, sales, leadership, and strategy roles in the energy building and infrastructure sectors. 

Sam serves as Head of Engagement and Policy at TRACTION for Young People, a not-for-profit, and is a course facilitator for the UQ MBA Impact Academy. 

With over a decade leading operations and workforce strategy across social enterprise, not-for-profit, and commercial sectors, including board experience, Sam has built a career at the intersection of purpose and performance. She is passionate about driving systems change for the communities most often left behind. 

Sam is GAICD accredited (gained as part of the MBA) and graduates from the MBA in December this year.

Rhea is a general dentist, a technical and detail-focused field, with each patient bringing different needs and challenges. 

While she has always enjoyed dentistry, she wanted to broaden her thinking beyond clinical practice. This led her to start an MBA at UQ, to better understand business, decision-making and to gain perspective beyond dentistry. 

Rhea was drawn to the UQ MBA’s flexible structure and in-person learning focus, which has allowed her to balance full-time work with her studies. She has really enjoyed the MBA so far and feels it has broadened both her skill set and outlook on life.

Joe is an energy and resources leader with over 20 years of oil and gas engineering and operations experience across Australia and Canada. He was most recently Production Engineering Manager at Senex Energy, leading a multidisciplinary team through a period of rapid coal seam gas production growth. He is the founder of Otigen, an independent consultancy providing engineering and business improvement services across Australasia.

Joe completed his UQ MBA in 2026, alongside the Australian Institute of Company Directors (AICD) course. He is a Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng, RPEQ, MIEAust).

Mollie is a lawyer working in the mining industry, where she advises on complex strategic, legal, business development and governance matters. 

She began her MBA at UQ in 2023 after moving from Perth to Brisbane with her young family and has balanced her studies alongside full-time work. 

With just one course remaining, Mollie is looking forward to completing her MBA at the end of the year.
