Social Research Methods Part 11

Factor Analysis

Delivered by Institute for Social Science Research

Overview

Factor analysis is a powerful statistical technique for uncovering underlying patterns or latent variables within a dataset. It is widely employed in various fields, such as psychology, sociology, economics and market research, to understand complex relationships among observed variables.

During the course, we’ll explore the concepts, methodologies, and applications of factor analysis, focusing on both exploratory factor analysis (EFA) and confirmatory factor analysis (CFA).

You’ll learn the practical steps for conducting each type of analysis, including data preparation, model specification, estimation and interpretation of results.

Overall, this introduction course sets the stage for further comprehensively exploring factor analysis. It aims to help you understand its utility in uncovering latent structures and informing decision-making processes across diverse fields of study.
