Project description

This project provides an exciting opportunity to work on an interdisciplinary area of advanced nanotechnology and biomedical science. Novel nano-adjuvants will be developed to improve the treatment outcome of immunotherapy for selected cancer types, such as triple-negative breast cancer.

Research environment

  • PhD project supported by NHMRC and an industrial partner.
  • Research excellence: project conducted at Yu group. Principal supervisor: H-index of 105, over 400 publications, 37,500 citations. 
  • Yu group has an outstanding track record in supervision, nanotechnology, drug delivery and cancer immunotherapy, relevant to this project. 
  • Strategic alignment: Project fitting into priority research areas at AIBN and UQ. 
  • AIBN provides all facilities needed in this project, and various additional support, e.g., AIBN Entrepreneurial PhD Scholarship, attending national/international conferences, and IT package.

Scholarship

This project is supported by the Research project scholarship.

This scholarship includes:

  • living stipend of $36,400 per annum tax free (2025 rate), indexed annually
  • tuition fees covered.

  • publication record
  • honours and awards
  • employment history

A working knowledge of nanotechnology, chemistry, biology, and biomedical science would be of benefit to someone working on this project.

You will demonstrate academic achievement in the field/s of nanotechnology, chemistry, biology, biomedical science and the potential for scholastic success.

A background or knowledge of nanomaterial synthesis and characterisation, immunology, cell culture and animal handling experience is highly desirable.
