Project description
You will join a multidisciplinary team working on the design, development and commercialisation of novel wear-resistant composite materials. In collaboration with an industry partner, and building on UQ’s over-moulding innovation, you will address limitations in current high-wear products, which often fail prematurely and reduce operational efficiency.
You should hold a bachelor’s or master’s degree (or equivalent) in Materials Engineering, Mechanical Engineering. Prior research or industry experience will be highly regarded.
You will be able to demonstrate:
- Strong interest in materials or mechanical engineering
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Independent, proactive, and well-organised
- Ability to collaborate effectively in a team
- Good interpersonal skills and strong professional ethics.
Research environment
This project forms part of AMPAM Sustainability Research Theme, in partnership with leading industry players. You will join a dynamic research group and gain exposure to a broad professional network, with opportunities to travel within Australia and overseas for industry visits and conferences.
The PhD research topic will be in the field of Materials Engineering, polymers and fibre-reinforced polymer composites, wear resistance and manufacturing.
Scholarship
This project is supported by the Research project scholarship.
