Project description
Are you passionate about developing novel research and shaping the future of medical electromagnetic sensing? We are recruiting two motivated PhD candidates for an exciting project on point of care portable, non-invasive medical sensing. This research focuses on developing processing, sensing and image reconstruction techniques for advanced diagnostics.
For this scholarship, you will use CST and programming tools like Python or MATLAB for algorithm design, simulation, and sensing/imaging.
The project involves modelling, algorithms development, and experimental validation. You will also conduct lab tests and should be comfortable working in biomedical testing environments, including tissue characterisation and clinical trials.
Join our leading team and help advance the future of medical imaging.
Research environment
You will be embedded within UQ’s world-leading Electromagnetic Innovations (EMAGIN) team, led by Professor Amin Abbosh. Our multidisciplinary group is at the forefront of biomedical electromagnetic research, developing cutting-edge imaging and diagnostic solutions. We specialize in tissue characterisation, modelling, antenna design, advanced signal processing, and AI-driven data analysis, aiming to create innovative and accessible bio-electromagnetic devices.
As a member of our team, you will have access to UQ’s Microwave Lab, equipped with multi-port vector network analysers, near-field measurement systems, dielectric properties measurement kits, bio-model phantoms, and an anechoic chamber.
For computationally intensive simulations, you will utilise UQ’s High-Performance Computing clusters, Bunya and Wiener, featuring state-of-the-art CPUs and GPUs for accelerated processing.
